It might sound cliched but we really love what we're doing when we perform and we think it shows. We truly get excited about all the different genres of hits we cover and about the opportunity to wow your guests with fantastic music. The Funk Junkeez strive to make each affair unique and memorable, plus we play lots of great tunes that are not your typical wedding band fare. Its often been said that the Funk Junkeez are not you fathers wedding band (not that those cats weren't great!) but you get the idea.
First, we always provide you with a detailed quote showing you exactly what we will provide- Then we usually sit and down with you and go over all details of your event, review and sign a simple contract for both of us - and take a deposit to lock the band down for your date.
Often we have a gig at a club in or around the city where you can see the band having fun in front of a live audience - check our Shows page. We also welcome our clients to schedule a time to come by our studio for a private showcase. Come meet the band - we'll play a bunch of different styles for you (about 20-30 minutes) and then also discuss the specifics of your event with you.
Yes absolutely - In fact, we have several options available such as: Solo Piano, Sax & Piano, Female Jazz Singer & Piano. In our experience we've often found that less is more at the cocktail hour. The music should be a complimentary backdrop, not the main event as guests are just arriving, meeting etc. We can make suggestions on the right size combo based on the space and the crowd expected.

Scenario #1: You are very involved. You highlight and actively choose as many songs from our play list as you like! Based on the musical styles and genres that you enjoy we can then craft our song selection to compliment your event and play to the guests at your party.
Scenario #2: Just leave it to us (maybe you have lots of other things on your mind for that party) let us use our years of experience to design an outstanding event and play to the crowd.

Sometimes people ask- what does the band like to play? The truth is we love all good music especially if it's danceable! At any given party we will jump from Sinatra to Bob Marley, the Police, to James Brown, Journey to Earth, Wind & Fire all in the same set and not miss a beat! From year to year the Funk Junkeez family is remarkably consistent, and our clients are always welcome to come to our studio and meet the exact members they will be booking for their event. Also in our contract we list our performers by name and we state that any subs must be approved by the client- So basically, we pride ourselves on having a steady group of players- hey that's what makes us a band not a bunch of hired guns. We are a real band that plays together so what you see is what you get!
Typically we recommend a 7 piece group. This allows us to cover the widest possible variety of musical styles from classic ceremony to smooth jazzy cocktail, and of course all your favorite dance hits. However every event is unique. Depending on the specifics of your event we may suggest a smaller or larger group.
Yes, the Funk Junkeez can get the crowd on their feet with a rousing Hava Nagila and other Horahs. Please let us know if you feel you need a large amount of this traditional Jewish music, and we can discuss specific selections with you.
We like to coordinate with the banquet staff or event manger to keep the party moving and keep breaks to a minimum. Our goal is to make sure the party maintains momentum and that the guests are having a great time. In most cases we specifically design the musical flow with the idea of having continuous music throughout the event.
Formal evening wear (tuxes), or semi formal casual or whatever we agree is the best look that suits the event. We always discuss this with you beforehand to see what you think and we always pride ourselves on looking professional at all events.
Absolutely. Proof of insurance can be faxed to event managers and catering establishments anytime its required.
Absolutely not- when we give you our quote it already factors in all extras such as hotels and any misc. travel expenses, etc.

Absolutely, First Dances, Parent Dances and a some special requests are expected, We enjoy playing your special requests but please give us at least 30 days notice to prepare properly.
From Sinatra to Bon Jovi, the Funk Junkeez definitely play something for everyone. We cover music for all crowds and all ages. We love playing different styles of great music and were used to playing to a wide variety of crowds.
Shouldn't be a problem - provided the establishment approves extending the party, we are always happy to keep the party going - and so our overtime rate is typically stated right on our contract, usually billed in half-hour increments.
